Dr Jay Calvert on Movember the Men’s Health Awareness Month

Dr Jay Calvert My father, my grandfather, and my father-in-law all had prostate cancer. My father-in-law lost the battle to his disease. Prostate Cancer is a disease that hits home for me and it’s why I make a big deal every Movember about growing my facial hair. It’s obviously not my normal look, but then again the battle for prostate cancer requires a heightened awareness and attention. Guys – get screened. Have your doc Draw a PSA level at least. You also need an exam, but the lab value is the bare minimum and will help a ton. Stay healthy. Stay in the game. We can’t prevent prostate cancer (except to quit smoking which definitely increases your risk), but we can screen for it and treat immediately with good results.
